Weather Will Be Picking Up This Week

At UAMS, we are currently monitoring the weather system to our west that will directly impact our area in the days to come.

WHAT WE CAN EXPECT TODAY
Highs between 74*F and 79*F. Some showers might pop up here and there due to the high level of moisture in the atmosphere currently.

TOMORROW
High of 79*F with Thunderstorms that could produce isolated Tornadoes. Marginal instability values along with a nice low level jet and bulk wind shear, make for all of the ingredients needed to cause a severe weather event. We expect this system to be reminiscent of last Wednesday's event that caused some minor tornadoes here and there. Though minor, tornadoes are dangerous nonetheless. Keep an eye on weather information throughout the day tomorrow. We expect the system to arrive in West Alabama around 3pm.

***UAMS SCD AND CERT TEAMS WILL BE PLACED ON STANDBY EFFECTIVE AT 1200 TOMORROW.

WEDNESDAY THRU FRIDAY
Temps will be a little cooler behind the cold front stirring things up on Tuesday. Dry and pleasant weather for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

SATURDAY
***SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT***
We expect another significant weather event to take place Saturday night. All of the models suggest this will be a very potent system. Though we don't expect anything similar to April 27th, this system is not to be taken lightly. We're still a little ways out, so we'll know more details closer to time. But you will want to take this into consideration when planning travel. Delays at airports in the Southeast could occur.

***UAMS SCD AND CERT TEAMS WILL BE ON STANDBY EFFECTIVE 1200 SATURDAY.***

THE RUNDOWN
Cloudy today, severe weather threat tomorrow (Tuesday), Nice but a little cooler Wednesday-Friday. Saturday, significant severe weather event is expected.
